Abstract
First paragraph:
On 26 June 1963, readers of the Daily Mirror were confronted with the headline, "Coronation stone is a fake" and a photograph comparing two stones. the headline reported a claim that the Stone of Scone (Destiny) housed in Westminster Abbey's Coronation Chair was not the real thing. The context for this claim was the temporary removal of the Stone on Christmas morning 1950 by Glasgow students motivated by the popular movement for Scottish Home Rule. Twelve years after the stone was returned to Westminster Abbey, a group of Scottish nationalists claimed to still have possession of it.
