About me

I joined the university in 2016 after completing my PhD at the University of Sheffield. I am a Senior Lecturer in Sociology and the Associate Dean for Learning and Teaching in the Faculty of Social Sciences.

I am a sociologist with research interests in: time & temporality; ageing, the life course and intergenerational relationships. I'm also interested in (and have previously researched) the sociology of health and illness, and homes, relationships and families.

I'm a qualitative researcher and am particularly interested in using creative and artistic research methods, as I think they're useful in helping us understand aspects of social life that are difficult to research using more conventional social scientific methods. For example on my ESRC-funded project 'Reimagining the Future in Older Age' I used novels and forum theatre (in partnership with ). You can find out more here: .

I am currently working on the project 'Waste/Land/Futures: Intergenerational Relations in Places of Abandonment and Renewal Across Europe' (funded by the Volkswagen Stiftung). You can find out more here: .

I am interested in supervising doctoral students on any of the above or related topics.
