I am a Lecturer in Education and teach on the Initial Teacher Education programme. My career in primary teaching started in 1995 progressing to principal teacher, depute headteacher and acting headteacher. During this time, I worked with staff in school to promote an inclusive whole school approach to teaching technology and science. Prior to teaching I was a research scientist in plant physiology and biochemistry. I moved to working in Tertiary education in 2017. I am Co-Director of Placements and teach on a range of other education modules.

My research interests are in developing improved teacher education in the field of primary science and promoting an inclusive approach to teaching STEM at all stages in primary school, combining my previous scientific and school experiences.
